XFM, City Showcase, Rock Sound and Radio 1 Big Weekend

Yo bitches!

It's really early.. I have had about 7 hours sleep in the last two days.. probably due to a mixture of excitement and also a sore gut that I've had every morning for the last two weeks.

Friday, XFM and Rock Sound sponsored City Showcase Gig

This was our first headline gig in London and it was incredible. The crowd were awesome and the other bands were amazing too. They came in the form of The Sea, Hunting the Minotaur and Telegraphs. You should look for them all on myspace. Also, the gig was sponsored by Fentimans botanically brewed soft drinks. They endorse us, so it was good to knock back some of their sweet sweet botans. mmmm. Anyway, this was reviewed for Rock Sound so there will be something in the magazine in the next month. I'll upload a scan when I have it. BIG thanks to City showcase, Ian Camfield and Rock Sound who put us on. YO!

Radio One's Big Weekend

This added to probably our best weekend ever. Being our first festival appearance we were super psyched. I'm going to write a proper blog soon with pictures and all, so I'll keep this brief.

Basically, we played, had a great crowd (if any of you are reading this, thanks so much for coming to watch us), did loads of interviews and drank lots of free bottled water. Our toilets were good too, until one guy left two huge logs in them.

We met Moyles, Westwood (more stories about this guy to follow), Vernon Kaye, Fern and Reggie (who are both apparently fans of the band), Jo Whiley etc etc etc. I spent all day telling most of them that we were amazing.. I think they probably wanted me to go away but humoured me nonetheless.

Videos, photos and various media to follow. In the meantime check this out from bbc3 (available for 7 days from now I think) - BBC iPlayer Fast forward to 10 minutes.

Yes! Biggest thanks in the world to local DJ Dean Jackson who put us forward to play. He is going to be best man at all of our weddings (if we can convince anyone to marry us). Check out his awesome show called The Beat. Rowan was interviewed on his show after the gig. Check it out here - Rowan Interviewed on The Beat (fast forward to 2.43)

Lastly, for anyone that likes our music, check out Challenge Swound!. You can pay what you want for our album. You could even get our album for free! The site isn't quite operational yet, but check back soon! More to follow

Challenge Swound?

Alright mates.

We are starting a new press campaign thingy this week and we need a video for the front page of the website. So I am currently ripping off the intro video and music to Airwolf.

The campaign is called "Challenge Swound!" and involves people setting us challenges and us attempting to complete every one of them. If you read this, please don't ask us to do nasty things, but instead easy/nice things. I have compiled a list of what you should challenge us to do:

1. Go and buy a hot chocolate from Costa and drink it.
2. Have a really nice dinner.
3. Take it easy.
4. Play NBA JAM all day without moving.
5. Get given 1 million pounds.
6. Have a nice day.

They aren't really challenges, but I like to to them. Plus i love lists.

See you later, bitchez.

Imagine the most disappointing Christmas ever

This morning I was thinking.. Imagine waking up on Christmas morning, running down the stairs to the tree, all the while being sick everywhere because you are so excited. There are four identical, rectangular presents lying underneath the tree with your name on. You open them to find four VHS box sets..

Never have enough time for anything

Being in a band takes up a lot of time. As standard you have to write songs, play gigs and rehearse as well as complete the occasional session of recording. On top of this you may also have to juggle things like videos (planning, recording and editing), managing the band's website and emailing people to persuade them you are the greatest band in the world (more often than not unsuccessfully).

Furthermore we all have to hold down day jobs.. apart from Lloyd anyway, who is at university and currently approaching the deadline for his one million page long dissertation (about the evolution of Zombie films - who would have guessed?).

Yesterday stressed me out a little. I'm currently trying to put together a website for a promo campaign that we'll be running shortly. I'm not too hot at web design but I get quite obsessed with it once I get started. I think I spent around 12 hours trying to get it finished.. only to break for Hell's Kitchen (Chicken's feet? Get a grip Grobelaar) and 24 (Is it just me or has this program got really bad?).

I didn't even get chance to do any 'paid' work or get started on painting the 200-picket-long fence which I helping my Dad with. Perhaps I should have just done work and paid someone to do the website for me? I guess I am far too controlling and stubborn (contrubborn) to do that though.

Don't get me wrong though, I love doing all this even though it makes me poor, stressed, tired and grumpy. Also it alienates me from all my friends.

I bought a knife sharpener the other day.

Zong Righting

I don't really have anything to say. We have been writing songs recently, here is a picture of me during a songwriting session:

Some things worth noting from this picture:

1. I bought a new drum chair, or "throne" as it is called. It is dead comfy and in my spare time i just sit on it for fun.
2. I have a Nord lead 2. i bought it nearly four year ago and love it more than Reggae Reggae sauce. Not much more though.
3. Calvin, my housemate/friend/swound roadie is sat on my sofa playing GTA: Chinatown wars. He has a Jon Burgerman sticker on his DS. Burgerman is ace, check him out here - http://www.jonburgerman.com/
4. I need to do some washing up.
5. I have a Polysics sticker on the top of my nord. They are the greatest band in the world.
6. I would have opened my curtains but I am in fact a dirty grebo who sits in a dim room and listens to 3 inches of blood all day.

A.C. Slaters y'all.

The Kill List

This week has been pretty rad. We have an introducing feature in Kerrang where joe is getting struck by red lighting.. or something.

We also played a Club NME gig in Derby. I dont think we were indie enough for the people there, it was weird and most people left halfway through our first song.

I got well annoyed. Straight after we played, i started to pack my drums away because the headline band were using their own. Bearing in mind that i was well knackered and HOT.. The roadie for the headline band just comes on stage and starts moving all of my kit. Now I am not dead precious over my kit but its just pretty rude to come on and start moving all of my stuff without saying anything. He just grabbed everything and shoved it into this really small room behind the stage. THEN he tells us to move all of our equipment from the backstage room, the equipment that he had put there.

I then found out that the band had a half hour change over time, whilst we were moving our stuff into the van, he was outside smoking. why oh why did he need to rush so much? He has been added to the list. the kill list. So far y kill list looks like this:

1. The spider in the corner of my room
2. Daniel Fitzpatrick
3. Annoying Roadie

in other news, i really need to tidy my room. Gig in London tomorrow, think I am staying over night to get rad with all the scene kids down south.

SWOUNDUKEN!!!!!

Howdy!

Joe has just asked me if i could keep on top of a blog. So here I am, and here it is.

I have just spent the last two hours trying to beat Seth on medium (Street Fighter IV). I hate him so much with his tumble dryer gut. I realised that my defence isn't all that, so i'm gonna have to work on it! I finished him with an ultra combo, it was immense.

Sorry for blabbing about my Street fighter woes, I just wanted to share my relief that i managed to kill the bastard.

We have our own feature in Rock Sound mag this month. It is most resplendent! we also have a prize giveaway in the the back of Kerrang with some swound merch and some Tokyo Flash watches (we are endorsed by them). If you are too poor to buy these mags, check out our flickr page, although we highly recommend you grab a copy for to sell when we are world famous! HA!

I better go, Demonio85 is talking shit to me on Xbox Live.

SHORYYYYUUUUKEN!!!!!!!!!
